Alice Elgie

Throughout my 20 years as a freelance writer my words have been published in magazines such as Breathe, Dalesman, Canal Boat, Plant Forage Make, National Geographic Traveller, Countryman, Bird Watching, JUNO + many more. I also write the monthly columns:  Characters of the Cut for Towpath Talk and Lockside Livelihoods for Canal Boat. Most recently I have had the pleasure of reading several pieces of my writing on BBC Radio.

“Alice's words breathe, conveying a sense of stillness and a gentle, kind presence."

I have a particular passion for exploring subjects that encourage gentle self-reflection on the authenticity of lives lived and I often use themes of nature, travel, yoga and mindfulness as a means to do this. Capturing the unique voices of everyday people, both past and present, is another theme that continually shows up in my work.

“Fearless traveller, nature lover, free spirit. Alice shares inspiring, beautiful, heartfelt wisdom.”
